Sep 08, 2018 (Bengaluru): CEO of Ayushman Bharat, Dr. Indu Bhushan, brings up the curtain on #Ayushman Bharat Call Centre in collaboration with Medi Assist. #AyushmanBharat #MediAssistIndia
Operational since August 25, 2018, the national call centre aims to provide information about the scheme. “[sic]…the call centre is a critical part of the scheme because this is the centre by which we are going to provide information [about Ayushman Bharat]…beneficiaries can call here and find out whether they’re eligible, what kind of benefits are available, and if they [beneficiaries] have any problem, or any complaint, this call centre can be used. So, in that sense, this [call centre] is the ears and eyes for us. And we’ll get feedback from beneficiaries directly to the call centre,” said Dr. Bhushan in an exclusive report given to the media. The Ayushman Bharat call centre currently shares information in English and Hindi, with plans to add 9 more regional languages. Dr. Bhushan’s testimony also touched upon an interesting development in the nation-wide roll-out of the scheme—it will commence two days earlier than the proposed launch date.
The roll-out (announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15th August) was set on 25 September, 2018. However, the PM will now be flagging it off on 23 September, 2018 from Jharkhand (Ranchi).
